Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Oct 03, 2007 12:12 pm I originally wanted to lay small flagstones as a path within grass then saw the crazy paving units (pieces of stone on a mesh backing) at Bunnings & am thinking of using those instead.
If I'm laying them in grass, do I just bed them in sand & lay topsoil & grass seed over the top? My only concern is the paving units aren't very thick & I'm wondering if, after doing the topsoil, the grass will be quite a bit taller than the paving. So should I perhaps just bed them in straight soil? Does anyone have any experience using this product? Thanks! Re: laying crazy paving in grass 2Oct 03, 2007 12:34 pm Hi epiphany just it's hard to say without seeing the product, but just make sure that whatever you choose is for external use?
Usually the ones on mesh are for internal or surfaces such as alfresco or porch areas where they have concrete down? If they are thin, be careful as they might crack when laid and walked on if not supported properly. Unless you laid them on a bed of concrete or something that will not move. Otherwise, you can buy small slabs of slate etc from a garden supplies place and lay them. You can choose the pieces and colours you want. Just double check that you can use the bunnings ones for your application. Post some pics when it's done... GOOD LUCK Re: laying crazy paving in grass 4Oct 05, 2007 1:06 pm Sorry Epiphany if i put a downer on them, they might be perfectly fine for the application, but better to check before spending any money....
