Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 May 13, 2010 12:21 pm Hi, I snapped the handle of my much loved stainless shovel. It was thin shovel (not sure of technical name ), about 150mm wide which was wonderful for digging holes. I need as newie, can anyone suggest a good brand please, I was thinking stainless all throughout - no plastic of wooden bits - less chance of snapping... Tar! Re: Can anyone recommend a good stainless steel shovel? 2May 13, 2010 10:20 pm G'day. I was going to let someone else answer this, but I saw no responses. Digadoo make some awsome stuff, and their stainless steel shovels are really tough. I'm not sure what type of digging you do to require a stainless steel shovel, I recon fibreglass is fine! http://www.digadoo.com.au/products/shovels/ Re: Can anyone recommend a good stainless steel shovel? 3Jun 18, 2010 2:02 am Can you just drop it in at a sheet metal joint and get them to weld it up, polish and even strengthen it? Might be far cheaper than buying a new one and be more resourceful. Why chuck it. Besides stainless is worth a bit of coin Digadoos are pretty cool. They don't sound very good though, better for digging Re: Can anyone recommend a good stainless steel shovel? 4Jun 18, 2010 3:06 am I don't know much at all about gardening stuff, but I think you'd be best to just put a new timber handle on the shovel. All metal might be tough, but there are probably good reasons they have the handle made from timber. If you were digging and hit a rock or something hard, an all metal shovel would transmit all the impact straight to your hand. At least timber would absorb and dissipate some of the energy. Ash.
