Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 May 11, 2010 10:57 am Hi All, I recently applied some organic blood and bone to my plants. I used about a handful for each plant. I then later read that it could burn the plants, especially if you have clay soil, as it raises salt levels. I'm a little worried I'm going to kill my plants. I put a new plant in last night, mop top, and put in about 2-3 handfuls of blood and bone in with the top soil I was mixing in. The hole was quite large and the plant is very large also (about 5 meters tall). Have i created a problem, and if so can it be reversed? Cheers Re: organic blood and bone - how much is too much 2Jun 17, 2010 12:33 am If you planted a mop top then be prepared to have problems with suckers. These are renowned to be aggressive suckerers and are now days only grown and sold by nurseries with a little less integrity They do cause disputes with next door neighbours and I have seen examples where the roots have come up over the road and shot suckers in over the roads lawn, like all over it. Blood and bone, well it is wonderful stuff Bet the dog loves it too provided no fortified trace elements are there. I did have a pdf on these trees somewhere It will be neat but you won't have much freeboard. At least they are not weep holes. Are you in a high intensity rainfall region?
