Good choices Dave - Capital pear is a fantastic ornamental pear, great branch attachment unlike a few earlier cultivars. Just make sure you have the right position for the Japanese Maple out the front, wouldn't want hot afternoon sun! Good luck with your plantings!

The maple will be shaded by the house from the direct sunlight during most of the day so it will only see the early morning and very late afternoon/evening sun. It shouldn't get too much win either so hopefully it does well.

I'll get some photos up when we finished the front and rear, so far we're about 50% done.
