Thanks Matt--I love my gardening, even if it is a recent passion. : ) --Mike Everything I know, I learned from SBS. LATEST: Frame Complete http://metricon-mercer.livejournal.com Re: Clueless Needing Gardening Help! 24Oct 25, 2007 9:34 am I can confirm that the liquid clay breakers are great.
Between the clay breaker, some mushroom compost and sheep manure, some of my plants are doing brilliantly. Have had a couple die but that was my fault not planting them properly. I agree that it's all about good plant selection Re: Clueless Needing Gardening Help! 25Oct 25, 2007 12:40 pm Hi YSSIM--
I have checked, the claybreaker I use is by Multicrop: http://www.multicrop.com.au/soil.htm It's the first one on that page. You can buy the stuff in hose-on packs, but every time I've ever bought a hose-on pack of anything I've wound up with lots and lots of water all over the garden and a full bottle still in my hand--in other words, it's never worked for me! I just mix it up in a watering can. One thing I also swear by is a seaweed concentrate, like Seasol, at planting time to reduce stress. Doesn't matter what kind of plant, a dose of seaweed concentrate will do it good. If anyone's interested, I'd be happy to post what I reckon is a pretty foolproof guide to planting any plant; a technique I've developed over four years of learning (sometimes the hard way!) about what works and what doesn't. --Mike Everything I know, I learned from SBS. And for the record - I would like to spend as little time as possible maintaining my so called garden! But am prepared to do my fair share of due diligence.
