Mines grown a bit but that is all. Next year hopefully I'll get some flowers. Re: Hey Fu, check out my Little Gem Magnolia…… 52Nov 19, 2010 11:40 am They will be growing roots well before they start to grow the foliage. I know we like to see the stuff above the ground appear to be doing something after planting but to the plant, that isn't it's priority. A bit like going camping and not setting up camp till you have to go to sleep. Get it done first and then relax and get on with things Re: Hey Fu, check out my Little Gem Magnolia…… 53Aug 07, 2011 7:10 pm I have two Magnolias in my back yard and they dont look right. Brown dry leaves in winter and the same in summer??? They do flower. But are very leaf bare. http://www.flickr.com/photos/55313447@N ... hotostream http://www.flickr.com/photos/55313447@N ... hotostream They are in pots sitting on white pebbles which is situated between a fence and a pool. http://www.flickr.com/photos/55313447@N ... hotostream I thought it was the heat and reflection from the pool/pebbles/fence. I have been giving them seasol/powerfeed/molasses for dinner the last few days, hoping that will help. Any advice as id like them to be healthy before the summer heat gets them.... More water??? Get them out of the pots??? I was told they could take full sun. Thanks Re: Hey Fu, check out my Little Gem Magnolia…… 54Aug 07, 2011 8:41 pm Get rid of the pebbles, get the poor things into the ground Prep the soil throughout the garden bed with perlite, certified organic compost, zeolite. Mulch heavily to 7-10cm with tree lopper mulch. Hose it down and it will be cleaner and tidier than the pebbles and sustain the Magnolia When they are young they will be sensitive to extremes. Set it free Re: Hey Fu, check out my Little Gem Magnolia…… 56Aug 08, 2011 6:41 am jzell67 Stupid lady at the nursery said they'd be fine in pots Must post more pics of the 2 I have, they have both powered along! A thick layer of rough course, uncomposted mulch will ensure even faster growth Hi Fu......I've just taken up all my paves to my clothes line, and the clothes line is coming out. I'm putting a line off the back of the house. I've bought another Little Gem to put in the center of my yard as a shade tree to sit under when it grows. Can you explain what "Rough course uncomposted mulch" is, as I want to push this one along. Thanks.....
