Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Apr 14, 2010 9:59 pm Hi all. We bought this swingset with slide from Big W. As we are about to transfer to our new home, we wanted to put our kids' playground on our backyard. It is only recently that I realised that I need to choose what is the best to put on the surface taking into consideration the kids' safety. I'm thinking of wood mulch (mostly suggested as to sand and rubber mulch). 1. Any idea how deep should I dig or scrape the surface before I can put the wood mulch? 2. How many cubic meter of wood mulch do you estimate that I should order? Assuming that the size of the area is 6 x 6 meters. 3. How about Play Matta? Has anyone use this on their backyard? Thanks, enzo Re: surface for kids's backyard playground 2Apr 14, 2010 10:49 pm Well make the sawdust deep. Sawdust will be better than wood mulch. 200mm would be good I'd say but I bet there is some Australian Standard for this. As for rubber, um... No. It has been found to be a serious contributor to illness. The chemicals present in recycled rubber products are a worry. Why does Australia still use it? Why does Australia use so many garden products banned for 20 years in many countries? Same answer I guess It will be neat but you won't have much freeboard. At least they are not weep holes. Are you in a high intensity rainfall region? The regulatory slope is only required… 3 8245 You can wash over existing pavers with 10% solution of water and hydrochloric acid, then wash off. The acid will provide for required bond key with new concrete. 1 36949 |
