We just scored a major bargain on 2 almost 3 m tall yucca plants (well.. they are in 1m tall pots, so really 2m tall) which have some off shoots.
I have done a bit of 'googling' and discovered I can cut off the off shoots, leave them to dry a week or so? And then put the end in root powder and plant again?
My question is.... what happens to the bit that I cut off? For example.. one of the plants has a major fork fairly close to the base. Can I cut a whole side off and replant it? What happens to the scar that I will have left there? Does it grow new leaves? Or am I best just to leave the fork as it is.
The trunks are quite thick now (about 10-15cm) and it makes the pots top heavy, so i'm either going to have to repot in wider, shorter pots, or put them into the ground, so the kids don't topple them over on top of themselves.
