Hel 5Mar 30, 2010 3:24 pm Becster Hi We have a very long dividing fence on the northern side of our block, about 2.5m high and 15m long. I would love for it to be covered in an oasis of green, and have planted some climbing plants along the base of the fence with the hope that one day the fence will be covered and we will not see the horrible super 6 fence that we see now. i have planted some jasmine (closer to the house), a passionfruit vine, and 3 bougainvilleas towards the back of the block. There are lattice panels strung up along the fence for support for the plants to climb on. At the base of the fence we have a smallish garden bed (about 60cm deep) along the fence and then a paved path. I was thinking of putting agapanthus or purple fountain grass in this spot, ie directly in front of the bougainvillea, but now wonder whether this would funny/strange, ie the colour and style of the agapanthus or fountain grass won't match the bougainvillea and it will look odd. Any views? or suggestions for other clumping/hedge type plants which I can use instead? I'd never put a climber on a fence, it destroys the fence of time. Our neighbours have done this and we have had to have the fences replaced. New neighbours planted more in a different spot and I'm constantly pulling the damn stuff out of our strangled trees. Many people hate agapanthus (classed as a weed) but I like them Re: Agapanthus, Purple Fountain Grass or Something Else? You'll for ever be plucking out the seed heads from the kids hair and shirts if you use those fountain grasses I work with owner, he/she is my man on the ground and I instruct them when to visit the site and take photos and I have other tools in the bag. 4 15244 Hi Everyone I learned something this week that I thought would be worth sharing.
