Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Mar 20, 2010 6:22 pm I am after some ideas for Garden edging? I have been using bendy wood but it warps and doesn't look very nice. I was thinking bricks but that might make the edge a little thick. I want to put the edge all around the garden beds along the perimeter of the fence which is 21m along the back and around 16m along the side plus i want to separate the newly laid turf from the rocks/pavers that we will put down eventually. any ideas would be great!! Re: Garden edging 3Mar 23, 2010 9:54 am Lissy, I used 110x350x500 recon limestone blocks, cut into 1/3 rds so 110x110x500 here viewtopic.php?f=19&t=31145 Buried into ground on a compacted bed of bluemetaldust, compacted bluemetal dust back & front filled. Dry laid. All of my other limestone is natural blocks which I prefer the look of but the recon ones are dimensionally correct so easier to work with and as they will be buried I didn't mind using recon in this instance, I actually dont mind the two contrasting materials as much as I thought I would. I personally don't really like the formal look but for maintainence purposes I wanted an edge to put my lawnmower wheel on and to run edger against. I figure I will use bushy natives and cascading ground covers over the edging to break up the formal look. Personally I would never use timber in contact with the ground, treated or not. ( To me that is the opposite of low maintainence, I like to do things that will last forever.) Fig Landscapes has produced an e-book and native plant index, available for purchase from their website. It's a great resource, full of inspiration and tips.
