Ive bought raised garden beds recently. I'll be building it on top of an existing tall fescue/rye grass. Tried digging but the soil is heavy clay and so tough. Since I cannot dig further due to shoulder injury too, I decided to cover the grass instead with layers of newspapers, top with organic materials like manure and compost and soil. All in all, the materials is about 6-8 inches high. I planted my seedlings with mulch. Can anyone comment if I did the right thing in killing the grass or missed out something else here I have 3 more beds to do but decided to ask you guys if I am on the right track....
Hoping to hear your expert advises....
