Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Mar 04, 2010 11:55 pm Just planning ahead for my front lawn. it is only a small area approx 50 square metres. I want to install sub surface irrigation to automatically water my lawn. My sis-in law said something about the brand netafin but havent heard too much about them. Are they the best quality products? on the market and if so where can I buy their tube? Do they have a showroom? Re: Where can I buy quality Irrigation Tube? 2Mar 05, 2010 12:21 am First of all where are you located? Will it be connected to the domestic water supply? And yes Netafim is one of the most advanced systems in the world. It is used by nearly every irrigation professional. It isn't always the best system for turf You are advised to install a fertigation unit to the system as you can not use regular fertilisers with subsurface set ups. Not that anyone needs to use fertilisers on domestic lawns Re: Where can I buy quality Irrigation Tube? 3Mar 05, 2010 12:24 am Re: Where can I buy quality Irrigation Tube? 4Mar 05, 2010 12:29 am Fu Manchu First of all where are you located? Re: Where can I buy quality Irrigation Tube? 5Mar 05, 2010 12:36 am It will depend on how the water is supplied and that is why I asked Re: Where can I buy quality Irrigation Tube? 6Mar 05, 2010 12:36 am Will you be connecting the system to a domestic water supply? Re: Where can I buy quality Irrigation Tube? 8Mar 05, 2010 1:02 am Ok so you would be using a grey water. That is fine. You select the lilac coloured pipe for that You will need to use different cleaners too. ones not high in phosphates and also ones that are low in salts. Using grey water will be effective because you won't need any very expensive things to protect your drinking water. Totally doable The guys at Netafim will be happy to answer questions as will I There is another type available but I will only use Netafim, not a poorer copy of the same concept Make sure the valves are used. There is a few threads on this stuff, have a search and I'll see what i can find too. The soil type you have will mean the way it is laid is different. Here in WA we have sand so we can lay straight on the surface. In clays it will need to be dropped around 50mm maybe 100 in some cases. Do the right soil prep before laying the turf and you'll be laughing Re: Where can I buy quality Irrigation Tube? 13Mar 05, 2010 3:56 pm You are allowed to install it your self and because it isn't connected to the mains water supply the use of a licensed plumber won't be required. In those cases a special valve must be installed and certified by a licensed plumber. It is called an RPZ valve and is a seriously expensive bit of gear. That is what makes using these setups with mains water too costly and therefore gear driven sprinklers and MP's the better option. For grey water it is fine.
