Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Feb 25, 2010 11:18 pm HI, I have a narrow, short block. In Queensland now, it is mandatory to install a 5000 litre tank. Most project home builders add a round tank as part of the standard inclusions. Quotes for a slimline upgrade are between $1500 to $2500. If it is similar in price to dig a hole and bury it, I would contemplate that also. It is a small block, so either tank takes up valuable space. Can anyone confirm a ballpark figure to bury a tank? Is a different tank structure required? Regards Alf... Re: Underground compulsory water tank on a small block??? 3Feb 26, 2010 2:29 am A very very good idea. Myself and Ani know of a popular ABC garden presenter that has one of these set-ups at their place along with grey water as well. All under a deck so maintenance is as easy as possible. Lift a hatch and access the water tank for cleaning Re: Underground compulsory water tank on a small block??? 4Feb 26, 2010 12:41 pm There are tank systems that are specifically designed to go under driveways or other paved areas. I have no idea about cost, but they're worth looking into. You could quite possibly have an even bigger capacity tank (assuming your roof area is big enough to warrant it). This is just one I found via Google, there are heaps more: http://www.bbtanks.com.au/feature_water_tank Re: Underground compulsory water tank on a small block??? 5Feb 27, 2010 5:29 pm We were thinking about an underground tank for under our driveway, but then decided that we'd look in to a tank to go under our raised decking - is that an option for you? Not sure whether I prefer driveway, alfresco or in the back yard. I guess it would come down what is the least expensive option, and what council allows for narrow blocks. I hope to go to the Brisbane Home sometime this week, so will chat with one of the tank stand's people. regards Alf...
