Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Feb 02, 2010 10:14 pm Hi all We have bought a new house and it has nice landscaped gardens etc. Only problem is a lot of weeds growing everywhere, through the retaining walls, in the mulch, by the pond. Then there is all types of weeds, prickly ones, small ones, huge ones, nut grass you name it. What is the best way to control these, I dont expect to eradicate them but more just stop them being so prolific. any idea/suggestions would be appreciated Cheers Re: Weeds - and lots of them 2Feb 02, 2010 11:03 pm First things first. Get good mulch in and check the thread below for what to choose Then section the areas of your garden and work on one at a time. Even if you allocate an hour or two to one small bit, you'll get there. pull then out by hand. You'd be surprised how easy some of them can be. Forget about the ones in the lawn, just skim the sticky and search some of my posts with turf as a keyword and this forum. Worry about it's health first. You need to do that anyway and you'll be surprised at what just goes all on it's own. The rest will go bonkers and that is fantastic for spraying. weeds need to be actively growing for best results mmmmwwwwwuuuhahahhahahh Get some round up and use Seasol in with it Far more effective than mixing urea or sulphate of ammonia. Again have a search on my posts using weeds and my username in the search window. There is loads of solid info. The time of day you spray has an effect on how well they work Always in the morning if you can. A few drops of dish washing liquid. Makes the sprays stick to the hairy leaves of the weeds.
