Hi,
I was hoping someone might be able to help me. I have been out hunting for the "perfect corner tree" for my block. (It was going to be the ginko biloba as suggested by Fu but then I realised it was a bit windy at the new house for it) so I went with a Manchurian Pear.
Depending on the nursery I was at the information tags on the Manchurian Pear all have the same botanical name (P. ussuriensis) but the size of the tree varied from 4 meters to 15 meters.
I can't find any information on the internet to suggest that there is more than one P. Ussuriensis. Does anyone know whythe heights are so different? iIll my little 5.5m ornamental pear grow to 15 meters and eat my house?
Also on a side note. I was going to plant it in azelea potting mix with a bit of manure in the hole as well. Will this be the right acidity level for it? I'm hoping to have it grow quickly and not remain a sad 2.2 meter stick with leaves!
