Hi guru's!!!
I have finally moved into my new build (YAY!!!) and have started the process of wanting to improve some areas around my home.
The main thing, is that I have finally started having artificial turf put down (I know I know but I wanted somewhere to use as a cricket pitch and for the dog I want to have room to move!) and I have also had a small area concreted which I will later cover with decking tiles as a pergola type area out the back. The problem is, that now it REALLY makes the ugly wood paling 6ft fence stick out as an eyesore, especially as my yard in only 3m deep!!!!
So, I want the fence to blend in to the background and when I open my blinds, its the pergola and nice surroundings I want to notice and not the fence. Given the short distance between back door (double glass sliding) and fence of 3m, can anyone recommend good colours to paint the fence that blend into the background and make a fence look a little nicer? My interior walls are a soft white (like a soft magnolia white).... I was thinking maybe a dark gunmetal blue for the fence, but am scared it will make the fence appear closer?
I also have a small narrow gap between the concreted area and the fence, so was thinking of using the gap to plant something that would help with softening the fence and maybe putting a couple of mirrors on the fence behind the plants to give an optical illusion of the yard being bigger???? Maybe???
Does anyone have any tips on narrow habit plants that aren't creepers that could be planted right up against a fence and concrete slab? I dont mind if they do or dont flower, the main aim is to help with blending the fence colour and as I said, softening how close the fence is.
Any tips would be VERY much appreciated!!!!!
Thank you!!!
