Letterbox? Mmm.... Dunno, but personally, I would wait for some dry weather. There's some coming later in the week. I found this: http://www.homelife.com.au/home+help/1560/paint+a+terracotta+pot And this: http://www.ugp.com.au/UGP_Rust%20Paint.html Haymes and Porter's make a rust effect paint. Re: Painting terracotta 3Jan 19, 2010 11:19 am Thanks Kek!! Maybe I'll do the letterbox on the weekend, but for now I might go clean some pots and then hit the paint store! I spoke to a guy there and he suggested I seal the pots and then I can paint them using any outdoor paint and I can also do that after I have potted the plants, awesome! So I've got the sealer and I've just scrubbed the pots again, they actually dry out really quickly so I'm glad I'm going to be sealing them. I will seal them later today and then put my plants in them! It also gives me some time to think about colours, I'm thinking fiery red cos they are chilli plants but would like another colour or two - I am painting 7 pots 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' OT...Not sure what the guys idea of "mild" was but I have no nose hairs left... I have a friend who started growing chilli plants a couple of years ago, he literally has hundreds of them and mostly in his front yard (north facing), I kid you not, it's quite impressive! He is also growing some of the worlds hottest chilli plants and he has given me one of them I eat a lot of chilli though and add it to almost everything He has given me 6 plants and I already had one, I will put more details up about the names of them later when I do the photo's. I'm also preferring to keep mine in pots for a few years as young chilli plants don't like frosts, so in the first few winters I will be able to put them in the garage, plus I don't want them to really get too big so the pots will be perfect for aaaages. We grew them once, couldn't eat the buggers....and we like our chillies hot. I've been planning to plant up some large glazed pots for our paved area, but the sizes I want are scary, SCARY prices. I just had a quick look at Bunnings (didn't see you there, Lisa ), and they have very plain terracotta ones in decent sizes for $30. I'm thinking those + some paint might do the job without breaking the bank. Perfect timing! I've had the chilli plants for a week and a half and have been meaning to re-pot them all week but hadn't gotten to it, I think the universe was telling me something! Because I'm thinking about not painting them now I'm going to do a few more coats of the sealant 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.'
