Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Jan 03, 2010 11:49 am We are building in QLD and we have a Taylex advanced blower system. We are on a 3/4 acre block in Moreton Bay Shire council area, the soil is a clay loam with permeability of CAT 4=0.25mm/day. There is no catchment area effecting us. The water consultant has submitted a design for a surface irrigation system consisting of 3 sprinklers over a raised "garden" area of approx 185sqm. This means that we basically need to have a garden bed area of say, approx 10 x 18.5metres. This is going to be a huge "unuseable" area out of our land that would be garden. I am wondering what is better - surface or subsurface? What are the benefits? Should we change it to subsurface? Does anybody know if there would there be any reason why we couldnt have a subsurface system? Driving around the area, we can see plenty of homes that obviously have subsurface as we cant see any irrigation areas only the water warning signs. Any feedback or comments would be great thankyou! Re: HSTP irrigation systems - whats best surface or subsurface? 2Jan 17, 2010 9:03 am Im guessing that either no one knows what a HSTP is or there is not many people in this forum who are building on acreage... Re: HSTP irrigation systems - whats best surface or subsurface? 3Jan 17, 2010 12:20 pm ...or you have posted in the wrong forum landscape and garden design contains all the irrigation threads and there are a few Forget surface irrigation in these applications, in fact I don't think you are allowed to use surface irrigation. The netafim systems are the choice of subsurface and there are significant weaknesses in the other brands (and I say that from experience ) These types of systems really are fantastic! The top of the wazza and highly recomended if you can afford them That area can now be used to be productive fruit growing area and even veggies but preferably not root crops Re: HSTP irrigation systems - whats best surface or subsurface? 4Jan 17, 2010 12:40 pm Try this link for an idea http://www.westernwastewater.com.au/O3.htm and viewtopic.php?f=19&t=22269&start=0&hilit=grey+water had this in my bookmarks too http://www.environment.gov.au/water/pro ... index.html and http://www.public.health.wa.gov.au/3/66 ... ywater_.pm Re: HSTP irrigation systems - whats best surface or subsurface? 5Jan 18, 2010 1:28 pm Fu Manchu Forget surface irrigation in these applications, in fact I don't think you are allowed to use surface irrigation. Yes you can use surface irrigation, in fact its the most common in this area. Thanks for the links, some good info there. I think we are kind of on the right track now. Were going to have to stay with surface irrigation as its too much of a change to redesign but we might be able to have a bit more flexibility with the design of the garden area for dispursal. We have recently purchased a 3/4 acre block in Moreton Bay Regional Council Shire - at Wamuran. The reasons for your investigation into effluent irrigation sounds similar to ours - the size of the required irrigation area seems significant. It seems council conditions on our block require that we must have subsurface or covered trickle. Whilst we are a while off building yet, we are interested to know how you went with your HSTP, and any learnings for irrigation area. Any comments or learnings appreciated. Regards Hi all I am looking to run a water line under my concrete footpath which is directly next to my home, was seeing if this is possible without cutting the entire section… 0 20193 Hi Brainstrust, I had a go at creating my own irrigation plan, keen to get some feedback. It will be run from one 750-800W pump, off 2* 5000L rain tanks. Each zone… 0 22775 It will be neat but you won't have much freeboard. At least they are not weep holes. Are you in a high intensity rainfall region? The regulatory slope is only required… 3 8284 |
