Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Jan 03, 2010 10:27 am Hi y'all, I thought I'd try my hand (& spade) to start a thread on tips & tricks for growing fruit & veg in your own back yard (or balcony). If anyone would like to add any please do..... spring onions - Next time you buy spring onions dont throw the roots out!! Just plant them straight into the ground, or even easier push them into a pot plant. A bit of water every couple of days and in about about 2-3 weeks -voila- a never ending supply of spring onions. No need to pull them out, just cut them at soil level and it will regrow again, and again, and again. You will have a plentiful crop that wont cost you any $$ except for a bit of water and occasionally a bit of fertilizer. Merry Planting, Issy Re: Veggie Patch Corner - TIPS HERE 2Jan 03, 2010 12:13 pm Hi Issy JO thanks for the tip I love spring onions but hubby hates the smell in the fridge so this could be a winner for me.
