So I firstly washed them - a mix of cherry tomatoes and roma's, all home grown Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Then they all needed to be de-stemed and cut in half to be cooked in the pot over a low heat for a few hours Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Once the tomatoes were on I sterilised the jars I'd saved. All the jars had previously been through the dishwasher to be washed, I re-washed them with hot soapy water before putting them in a cold oven, which I then turned onto 110c and once it reached the temp I turned the oven off and left them there till they cooled down Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I then had to puree the tomatoes and get the skin and pips out by using my food mill Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I then reduced the liquid a bit more Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The sauce was then put into the jars which were then put into a pot with cold water. The lids were not done up tight, they were loosely in place. The tea towels are to stop the glass from banging against each other and breaking. I didn't cover them in liquid as it was only to create the vacuum - I boiled them for about 20 minutes Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ All done! Lid's tightened and waiting for them to cool down and the vacuum seal to take effect and the lids to pop Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.'
