Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Dec 09, 2009 11:43 pm Hello everyone! Hopefully we will be moving into our new home built with Goodlife Homes next week, but our current lease on our rental house doesn't run out until 31/12. In that time I have a bare patch on our lawn that I need to get a bit of green on in less than 4 weeks. Is this possible? We had an above ground pool there last summer and it killed the lawn - we've top-dressed it and fertilised it and it has a few green shoots but we've also got this creeping weed coming in that sort of looks like clover. Should we treat the area with a wetting agent and then spread lawn seed on it or is there some other magical remedy that a brown thumb like me can use? Thanks for any help you magical gardening people can provide. (Yes, I am sucking up - whatever works!) Cheers, Jodi Re: Help! I need to repair a lawn in 4 weeks... 2Dec 10, 2009 12:01 am Jodester.... have you thought about painting it? My newly-ten year old suggested this to me on the weekend as we also have a bare patch (actually... its in the shape of an *L*). He thought it would be a fun activity and we couold spend some *quality* time together painting the lawn... I think as long as you've made the effort to repair the damaged part the Agents shouldn't be too cranky about it? But the marvellous Fu should be able to let you know more than useless I... he is The Fu afterall ... (and yes... i'm sucking up too as i'm going to be picking Fu's brains soon enough about plants and landscaping LOL LOL) viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22766 - my build thread! Time waits for no man. You can top dress and fertiliser isn't going to make it grow. Water will Notice how tall grass gets near a leaky tap Lots of water and a wetting agent that's what I'd be spending my money on. Re: Help! I need to repair a lawn in 4 weeks... 4Dec 10, 2009 9:51 am Ah Jodes, the witticism of the young - never ceases to amaze me! I think your boy is on to something and if I could get away with it I would!!! Fu, I've been watering every night, well about 6ish with the auto sprinklers, I'm such a law breaker! From now on though I think I'll just stand there with the hose cause there's some patches that the sprinklers are missing. I've been digging the weeds out of the lawn as it seemed like they were just taking up valuable growing dirt! Do you think I should just let them grow and be thankful that they're green? Thanks for getting back to me - you're in hot demand it seems!! I will definitely be talking your ear off (along with Jodie - same great name, just not spelt correctly... ) about our landscaping!!! Cheers, Jodi Re: Help! Night time watering increases the likely hood of fungal disease Re: Help! SO GLAD not to be renting anymore!!!! Hi Fu, we've been hand watering in the morning and on a day like today when it's been DAMN hot we gave it another water this afternoon. Thanks for your help guys. Cheers, Jodi The fastest thing a builder will do is bank your cheque, those systems work perfectly with lightning speed, everything else is slow burn.
