What a lovely colour, Southies.
Mind you, is the soil in your mini wall /plangter box boggy at all? ( )
Do you have ag pipe at the bottom of the wal?
Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design Re: Camellia Hedge 24Sep 08, 2011 9:11 pm awesome southies. what a coincidence to have someone else have exactly the same camellia variety as there are so many to chose from. could i ask how often and how hard you have been pruning them? by the looks of things it may be about 4-5 years before there is enough of a bush to form a hedge.... but it looks like it will seem like it is worth the wait Project History Deposit - 20/4/2010 Land Settled - 20/8/2010 Council - 30/9/2010 Slab - 17/11/2010 Bricks - 28/01/2011 Roof - 5/02/2011 Gyprock - 4/03/2011 Re: Camellia Hedge 25Sep 08, 2011 9:22 pm I trimmed them for the 1st time after their 1st flowering - about a month ago. They definitely needed it because some of the branches were getting rather leggy. Edit : I only trimmed the longish growth, not by much at all. Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Camellia Hedge 26Sep 11, 2011 5:58 pm The camellias that I planted have about the same growth as Southies. They have been in a year and are simular heights. We have great soil, and I supplement it with compost and slow release compost. I have had to tie them to the wall last week as they were leaning over a bit. Spring is upon us and I am expecting another growth spurt, so I enriched the soil also. they are not an instant hedge, but they are worth waiting for Re: Camellia Hedge 27Sep 14, 2011 11:49 pm If they need tying back you might be best to clip them back so they get stronger. They will bounce back even better. |
