Do a search & you'll find plenty of info that suggests ZOYSIA is by far the best turf for our dry conditions Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Sir Walters OR Matilda 4Nov 03, 2009 12:04 am I tried to convince my dad of this. However he was adamant that sir walter was the way to go *sigh* (he's just laid lawn front and back and his & moms house. It does look lovely though... Sometimes my dad just doesn't listen!!! I'm hoping to convince my landscapers to give me zoysia will see what happens. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22766 - my build thread! Time waits for no man. Unless that man is Chuck Norris. Re: Sir Walters OR Matilda 5Nov 03, 2009 8:40 am Jodie I think there is a Zoysia rep in Busselton when I looked into who locally suppllies it. Mine don't. Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Sir Walters/Zoysia OR Matilda 11Nov 06, 2009 3:33 pm If you get Empire Zoysia laid, you really must make sure good certified organic soils are dug through (that means avoid putting a layer of "topsoil" on the top) to a depth of 300mm at least or as best you can, that zeolite and spongolite are used. Very few turf laying mobs are onto Zoysias or how they need to be laid for success with future growth Re: Sir Walters/Zoysia OR Matilda 13Nov 06, 2009 5:30 pm $9 is an excellent price here in Perth It is a bit more expensive in winter at around $11 a metre. Re: Sir Walters/Zoysia OR Matilda 14Nov 10, 2009 10:28 am Can anyone advise where to get Zoysia in Adelaide (SA)? I spoke to Munns lawns (one of the bigger/biggest in Adelaide) and they hadn't even heard of it. They recommended a tall fescue (Pixi sun and Shade) given that I have access to spring fed dams, so less problems with water. Can one of the Gurus (looking at you Fu) please advise if a tall fescue is ok (cheaper because its seed) or who in Adelaide can supply Zoysia. Thanks Re: Sir Walters/Zoysia OR Matilda 15Nov 10, 2009 6:17 pm fescues should be banned in the eyes of many. If you can't get the Empire Zoysia then select a soft leaf buffalo. What ever one you like, they are all just so much the same really. Grasshopper may have some good ideas and advice on those too. Re: Sir Walters/Zoysia OR Matilda 17Dec 13, 2009 10:29 am Hicks Turf in Adelaide for SW, don't think they supply EZ. When talking price, Sydney prices are about 30-50% below their southern and western neighbours. That's one of the reasons alot of Vic suppliers source their ki,SW/Pal and EZ from Sydney. Most of the EZ grown in Sydney goes along the side of roads in NSW or sent to Vic. Re: Sir Walters/Zoysia OR Matilda 18Dec 13, 2009 11:22 am Zoysia or Sir Walter? Sir Walter all the way. My mate owns one of the biggest turf farms in QLD and they had the irrigation system in one paddock break down completely for a couple of weeks. There was Sir Walter in one end and Zoysia next to it. Both had been planted at the same time. The Zoysia nearly died completely while the Sir Walter remained relatively green. If you're offered S/W at the same price as Zoysia, definitely go the S/W. Cheers, Beatrix. |
