Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Oct 19, 2009 9:51 pm I want to add a 10,000L water tank off my shed for watering purposes but the best place to house it is on a drainage easement. The easement slopes a bit as well just to add to the complication. What id like to do, is build a raised stand that will allow the tank to sit on top of the easement and not prevent water flow, and also allow me to mount it some slightly uneven ground. Ive googled for hours and found a small stratco tank stand setup as well as other larger stuff but nothing like what im chasing. Just want to know if it can be done or if anyone would know who I could ask. No doubt the council would have a fit if they saw what im going to do being on the easement, but hey, its not stopping water flow, and if they need access they can empty the tank and move it away. Dirt, concrete, crushed rock??? and will it be against the house or fre standing away from the house? Its away from everything, right in the back corner behind my shed. The frame Im thinking of would just sit on the ground Blog - http://snakedr.blogspot.com/ Build Thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=12084&p=307406#p307406 Status - PCI 15/10. Things nearly done. Re: Anyone have info on mounting water tank on stand 4Oct 20, 2009 12:48 pm To be honest, I would not go with a stand. Remeber that 1 litre of water is equal to 1 kilogram, so you are looking at 10 tonnes plus the weight of the tank and bladder. When the tank is mounted on a stand, there are pressure points where the stand touches the tank, whereby if it is on a sandy base, it will generally spread evenly across the base. Adrian B Re: Anyone have info on mounting water tank on stand 5Oct 20, 2009 1:41 pm I was just talking about this at lunch, and a workmate recommended laying down a few sleepers on their side in a few places to take the load, get it off the ground, but still allow some drainage under the tank, do you think this would work with say four sets of sleepers across the 2.5m of the tanks diameter?
