We are thinking of doing the pool coping and tiling around the pool area in travetine. It is a gorgeous colour, like a weak coffee colour and has lots of natural imperfections. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Here is a pic of the pool in its unfinished state. The interior of the pool is going to be done in a white quartzon and the waterline tiles will be a turquoise mosiac. The pool size is 9m by 4m. Does anyone here have travertine around their pools? If not what have you chosen to surround your pool?. Hubby and i originally wanted a deck but the quotes were so high... $25,000 for 50 sq m (in some kind of hardwood not merbau or anything) it really put us off. I would love some thoughts..... Thanks all! Oh here is a link to some travertine... the look we are after http://www.luxurystone.com.au/images/nt006p.jpg Re: Finishing off our pool. 2Oct 02, 2009 8:40 pm Flissfloss Hi Everyone, It has been a long time since i have posted but would really love some opinions on our pool. Oh here is a link to some travertine... the look we are after http://www.luxurystone.com.au/images/nt006p.jpg It's your lucky day we did travertine around our pool, we did turquoise mosaic waterline tiles, it is fabulous, did you know you can also get the travertine filled or coated so the little holes are filled, we have noticed some moss growing in the little holes. Anyway I will put some pics on for you. Re: Finishing off our pool. 4Oct 02, 2009 8:51 pm That looks gorgeous! Thank you so very much, my lovely DH was having a few dramas "visualising" it and i think the poor dear now thinks we might get ours looking like your amazing yard!. Men! I am still tossing up on whether to get the travertine filled or not...i like the holes all through it. That's what appealed to me from the start. You also have such a great space around the pool, we only have 2m at the widest part, would love to have a dedicated lounging spot where i could supervise the kids! Would be blissfull! We were just tossing up the other day whether or not to get it filled, I think there will be weeds growing soon, also it's so lovely when it's wet and the seal/filler makes it a bit darker. Re: Finishing off our pool. 6Oct 02, 2009 9:20 pm luv that decking and even more now I know it's fake. hmm so is it a plastic type thing? i like the idea of no maintenance. I'm assuming that's what it means. it certainly looks good. the whole keep it oiled, stained and varnished thing had me totally off the idea of wood decking but that looks lovely. I THINK but am not sure, it could be called Mod Wood, remind me to ask DH what its called Re: Finishing off our pool. 8Oct 05, 2009 7:30 pm when trav. is filled it needs to be polished , it then becomes slippery. I only in stall unfilled trav. in exterior situations. Exposed agg can look good against trav. if the right mix is chosen. also deco pebble conc. etc comes down to budget Da Vinci Outdoor Living Architectural landscaping http://www.davincioutdoor.com Re: Finishing off our pool. 9Oct 05, 2009 7:58 pm davinci when trav. is filled it needs to be polished , it then becomes slippery. All our pathways are nearly black exposed agg, I love it. Re: Finishing off our pool. 10Jan 16, 2010 1:20 pm I thought i should come back and post a photo of our almost completed pool. We decided to have travertine pool coping and decking around the pool, that way when budget allows we can add a bench seat and something to hide the filter. I just finished oiling the deck last night and am very happy with the finish. Our decking guy was also fantastic so if anyone in Sydney needs a reccomendation let me know. A big thank you to Suh who showed her gorgeous pictures and helped inspire me Oh, and i am also happy to reccomend the pool company too so if anyone wants a pool let me know! (it's good when you get great tradies isn't it?) Fu, the stainless steel screws were all pre drilled too! (apparently a bit of a rarity when i was getting quotes ) I will add a couple of pictures when its all done, I am thinking about building the bench seating myself, it would save about $1000 if i could. I was swimming in a friend's pool last night before a dinner party. It's really got me thinking more about having one (when our house is built) Yours looks great. Love the decking. Building Standards; Getting It Right! Don't think they are designed for double brick. WA has a particular way of building and unfortunately that's the way a large amount of sills are finished. 3 7005 I couldn't attached the photo for some reason.
