Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Sep 26, 2009 11:34 am Earlier this year I replaced the rails and palings on an old hardwood fence with treated pine timber. After a few months, the treated pine screws broke off at the point where they entered the old hardwood posts. Does this mean treated pine screws can only be used exclusively for treated pine timber? I am putting up a maple door frame inside in a dry location. Can I use the treated pine screws left over from the fence? Re: Treated pine screws 2Sep 26, 2009 3:08 pm Yes you can use them. Your screws probably broke due to being to small a guage. You would generally use 14g gal bugle screws for holding a fence rail Sam There is a much stronger glue than liquid nails. It's called T Rex and will stick your timber to the concrete.
