Ideally I could have these doors open throughout the day, however I'm concerned about bugs and insects. I live near the new Marriot Waters in Cranbourne, are bugs a big problem, can you do something to stop them? thanks! Re: Bugs and insects with open frenchdoors to alfresco area 2Sep 22, 2009 2:09 pm Air curtains are used in commercial applications. You could use them at home too - but expensive though http://www.mitsubishielectric.com.au/143.htm After 4 years - we're in! Ideally I could have these doors open throughout the day, however I'm concerned about bugs and insects. I live near the new Marriot Waters in Cranbourne, are bugs a big problem, can you do something to stop them? thanks! I just built a house with M. And we have 5 bi-fold doors. When purchased, with M a retractable flywire. It goes over the 4 meter expanse and I am so glad we go it. It was prob the best investment in the house (sort of) as we get a breeze come though without the mozzies. The one draw back. It cost $2300.00 The other thing too is they build it into the frame of your doors. So all up it can be quiet expensive but for us well worth it!! Unless we're entertaining, we use windows (which have flyscreens, of course) for ventilation, so it's not like they're open all the time. When they are open, it's always during warm weather, so we usually have the ceiling fan running in the al fresco room - I have no idea if that makes a difference, but we don't have masses of insects coming inside. Some areas will always have more of a problem than others. Lakes and ponds would attract certain pests, so I'd guess that any suburb with "waters" in its name might have a bit of a mozzie issue... The retractable flyscreens are a great idea. Canterbury make them for their doors, and we might consider getting them installed in the future if we think it's necessary. http://www.canterburywindows.com.au/WindowsDoorsProducts/TimberDoors/BifoldTimberDoors/ScreenedBifoldTimberDoors.aspx Re: Bugs and insects with open frenchdoors to alfresco area 6Sep 23, 2009 8:10 am kek We have two sets of bifolds and don't really have a problem with insects.
