Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Sep 18, 2009 12:11 pm The house I'm buying (hopefully) has a hedge for a front fence. So do the houses either side. It's almost like a continuation over the front of the three blocks. I think it's ugly, its not very well maintained and so when I get the house I plan on pulling it out. I want to put up a new fence across the front that will make the house stand out and not just be the 'one in the middle'. what sort of fences are good for street appeal? I'm thinking pickets. the front of the house is very symmetrical with equal windows on both sides of the front door and a central front porch with semi columns mounted on rendered brick. Its very similar to the house in this picture. http://www.realestate.com.au/objects/pr ... 062800.jpg what type of fence would look good with that? I said its like it continues across the 3 houses, same hedge height, width etc. its hideous and makes the place just look like it just fits in, rather than stand out. buildingadreamhome Your property, your front fence, you can have whatever you want (within council restrictions anyway). I think a picket fence would suit the house really nicely!! Yeah that is what I thought... I'm thinking a picket fence with perhaps some similar columns for posts, or at least in the middle where the gate would be.
