Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Sep 09, 2009 12:04 pm I would love some help choosing some plants to go down the side of our house please. I have two long garden beds (around 8 metres) around 900mm in width, being separated down the middle by a boardwalk. So we have 1 x 900mm wide bed on the fence side, then a 700mm boardwalk, then a 900mm bed next the house. I hope I explained that OK. The garden bed on the fence side gets afternoon sun, the bed on the house side gets morning sun. I originally wanted the same look on both sides of the boardwalk - but I am assuming that this isn't a great idea becasue of the sun differences..... Hence my confusion as to what to plant! I like the idea of having some height at the back of the bed, with shorter plants at the front. My first thought was on the fence side a row of Ornamental pears ("capital" species - grow fairly narrow), but I think the space is too thin, and maybe not enough sun?? And then an underplanting of something, maybe lomandra, and kangaroo paws. And on the house side some camellias and gardenias and daphne (love the smell of gardenia and daphne). The other look I was considering was palms. But I can't find any info on palm that don't grow huge, so I think that's out. Soooooo confused. Advice please??? Many, many thanks. What? It's a lighting question, the control joint is only needed at 12m centres, a bulkhead or change of direction will suffice as a 'break' in the ceiling, just make… 8 8506 Thanks again for this information. If you do hear anything different, would be great to know 4 8182 dimensions on your original plan are inconsistent and with accurate dimensions (including site plan, upstairs and down) i could make a proper scale drawing with furniture… 3 7485 |
