Guess I'm just not a fan of wattles as trees - shrubs, yes, but the only acacia I like as a tree is a.melanoxylon. Maybe it comes from cutting up a.mearnsii for firewood and having huntsmen spiders running up my arm

Both the ones you mention are a bit of a weed over here in WA (As is Australia's national floral emblem, The golden wattle, A. pycnantha.) but are readily found in agricultural east coast areas. Good reliable growers over your way. Heaps of birds will love the seeds and shelter they provide. If anyone has kids they will love them for being fast growing and good climbing trees for the little ones to muck around in.
