Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Jun 09, 2007 11:31 pm Hi all!
I have just finished what I think will be the final design for my front yard: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is a 3d model of the finished product... forgive the mistakes in perpective. The retaining walls will be those rough hewn sanstone stackable blocks. The block has a fall of 800mm right to left Any thoughts or ideas? Re: My Garden design - maybe 3Jun 10, 2007 10:28 am Ash,
The lights are a good idea. I have some LV square sidelights ... i could put those in. The driveway is exposed aggregate The steps are 400x400 sandstone. The pathway out the front to the left is pebbles Re: My Garden design - maybe 4Jun 10, 2007 11:34 am What time did you two go to bed last night???
Matt, while your putting the lights in for the steps, move the specimen tree on the left over towards the fence and put some garden "UP" lights under those for effects at night. Then a nice concrete seat just off the left of the steps. Put that in your render and give us a look…..clever boy!!!! Then a nice concrete seat just off the left of the steps. I kinda like the trees where they are! They are symetrical to the front door (framing the entrance) I am not a fan of having a seat at the front of the house. I guess I don't want to invite people to sit in my front yard....might as well invite them inside?? Silly but my logic. Both good suggestions though. I like the idea of uplighting the trees. I am a big fan of LV lights in the driveway and uplighting is easily put in at this stage too..... Thanks Re: My Garden design - maybe 8Jul 12, 2007 10:43 am Nice work!
What trees are they and how big will they grow? Do they have flowers, drop leaves in winter, change leaves colour in autumn? It will change the appearance a lot. Check what the front of the house will look like when they are fully grown. Too many people are chopping the trees down to open up the house. I suppose you checked there is not sewer near the area you planted trees – trees are going to enjoy it, but you probably will not. Re: My Garden design - maybe 9Jul 25, 2007 8:08 pm You've put the retaining wall in the middle of your available space - hence the space at both sides will not be very usable.
Would it be possible shifting the retaining wall to the street and having something like a real patio in front of the house,? You could plant your trees there. What else will you plant htere besides the trees? These rings arounf the trees - I think they come from street trees, but if you see them at older trees they are mostly broken because they usually are made too small for an older tree. Perhaps you may think of planting all the space instead of the lawn- there are so many flowering low care perennials, shrubs etc. A lawn is as much as work because it has to be mown and it only looks pretty if there is enough rainfall. All the design depends on your climate you'er living in. Re: My Garden design - maybe 10Jul 29, 2007 3:15 pm Matt looks good. What software are you using for you design? Re: My Garden design - maybe 11Jul 29, 2007 6:10 pm Hey Mud,
I always use the same package... Paint Shop Pro 7 It is a little too basic to be considered a great program and a little too hard for the beginner but it does all the things I want it to do! Re: My Garden design - maybe 12Jul 29, 2007 9:47 pm What about installing some sensor light which turns on automatically when it detects any movements? Re: My Garden design - maybe 13Jul 30, 2007 8:04 am Well spotted!
I didnt have it in the drawing however there is a sensor located centrally to pickup / cover both the doorway and the driveway!
