Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Sep 04, 2009 4:16 pm Hi, I have been talking to following landscape people to do our deck, driveway and landscape. Any one has any positive or negative experience with any of these companies? 1. Lifestyle Landscape Designs - lifestylelandscapedesigns.com.au 2. Stone Exteriors - stoneexteriors.com.au 3. Prestige Building & Construction - Simon Karam 4. KCC constructions - Kccconstructions.com I value word of mouth (word of keyboard in this case) higher than anything else. Regards, devank Re: Have you hired any of these landscape companies (in Sydney)? 2Sep 04, 2009 4:20 pm I would only suggest that you match those names up with who is a member of the Landscape Association of NSW. This is a very important aspect of choosing a Landscaper because they are landscapers who not only represent their business but represent the industry they are a part of. Standards are assured and quality and integrity are part of the package. Have a squiz at the sticky in this forum and there's a link to the NSW landscape association Re: Have you hired any of these landscape companies (in Sydney)? 3Sep 05, 2009 5:49 pm http://lcansw.com.au From which the list of Sydney landscapers does not contain any of those businesses. I do stress that choosing a LCA member means you are choosing someone who is an active supporter of their industry and will meet standards set by their peers. Fu, I understand and see the wisdom in choosing an active member of an industry association. Just a question, is there any review or audit process to quantify/measure adhererence to particular industry stds? For my own learning, what key elements sets apart industry and non-industry members? Re: Have you hired any of these landscape companies (in Sydney)? 6Sep 13, 2009 9:14 pm Nosey bugger aren't you And a ripper question Quote: is there any review or audit process to quantify/measure adhererence to particular industry stds? Well to the best of my knowledge, no, not directly or as a regular audit process. However, as part of association, you as a landscaper are part of an inner circle of your peers and if you get a bad name or do *** work the gosip gets round and you are investigated by the associations council. Quote: what key elements sets apart industry and non-industry members? Cowboys are a huge problem in this industry and for the most part give the industry a bad name and undermine the integrity of the industry. The Landscape associations are at the forefront of technology, play a part in developing local government policy in regard to landscapes and allow members cheap or free access to the best training and info. look at it like this. You and some mates are bloody good at what you do. Then you meet some others that are bloody good and get talking about what you have seen that is no to good at all. You want to set some controls to seperate you and you mates from the others. It is more a code of ethics. Sounds like a gang doesn't it Break the code and you are out on your ear and become marked. As a client, pick a cowboy and who do you turn to if things go sour? Pick an association member and if there is an unlikely problem, you can talk to the association council and in severe cases they maybe investigated and removed as an association member, meaning they are not privy to the latest products, the latest trends, may loose friends, may loose their business' integrity, will be in the dark with many things landscaping.
