Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Aug 31, 2009 12:46 pm Hi there This is my first post in this section, i have been lurking and reading though for a while, you guys have some brilliant ideas. My husband and I have just bought our first house, we are very luck to have the hard work done for us, three levels of rock/rendered retaining walls front and back (built in 1963 and still going strong) and also garden beds all set out, the property was a rental for a while so there is currently just grass in the garden beds so blank canvas, my parents have a tropical theme with bangalow palms, cocos palms, elephant ears, cordylines, frangis (excuse spelling if wrong!) we currently live with them out the back until our new place is painted and our little dogs... they have not been sick from any plants in their yard so far and only chew the grass occasionally (I think).. my question is are any of the above poisonous for dogs?? if not I plant to plant all these in my new yard, any thoughts appreciated... I would be beside myself if it was my fault that they died simply because I put in plants that were highly poisonous to them. Dogs aren't meant to eat dog-proof snail pellets either, but one of mine needed her stomach pumped when my mum dropped a single pellet when she was putting them inside a fenced off area. Re: Are any of these poisonous to dogs? 15Sep 08, 2009 12:39 am I paid $800 in one day for 2 dogs! First dog got a lump removed. Operation + painkillers & antibiotics = $600 Second dog got into my handbag, opened a ziplock bag, neatly punched out all of the antibiotic tablets from the foil packets, combined them with a few medicated throat lozenges for good measure, and overdosed. Stomach pump + IV and observation = $200 <-- there's the little monkey on the left! Owner never leaves her handbag on the couch again! Not closed, not padlocked... never!
