This might sound quite silly, but I only just discovered that under Stage 3a water restrictions here in Melbourne you can't water lawn at all, you can't even get an exemption for new turf anymore!! So, it looks like my water tank will be one of the first things I buy for my garden
I may have to preface the rest of this by saying - I've never had a garden to look after in my adult life so I really don't know a huge amount but I am looking forward to learning!
Earlier today I started thinking about what kind of watering system thingies you can install into your garden. I figure for my vegie patch I will do a drip feed something or other that sits on top of the soil under the mulch - but that's about all I know. What kind of piping should it be? What should I be aware of and consider?
I figure I will have a timer on my tap and have them all connected up to that somehow (I really haven't thought about it a lot until today, can you tell?)
Also, then for my garden bed's I spose I would so something similar to the vegie patch?? I'm thinking that the lawn I wont bother doing a watering system for, it can be the hose from the tank and the water from my showers and washing machine once its established.
Sooo I spose what I am after is advise on what I need to think about and know in regards to watering my future garden! I would much rather delay the garden and get it all setup right from the word go while I have the blank canvas. Please remember I am a total noob about all this at the moment and just starting to think about it all!
