I am thinking of getting thick bamboo sheets from a hardware store and putting them in front of the windows (and a few plants, too, maybe cordylines for decoration). Do you think this would stop much of the sun from getting in? Our Adenbrook home was completed in September. We bought cheap outdoor blinds (Reject shop?) for my son's bedroom at our last house. It did a great job in keeping his room cooler during summer but still let in some light. We rigged it up ourselves but these days you can buy shadecloth window blinds ready made. For the longer term think about getting a deciduous tree. My mum had done this also using darker shade blinds and it looks really good and keeps the temps right down. We used white for the light. Were not expensive either and stupidly easy to install. The last home I lived in didn't have a pool and when i went to sell it the agents were not happy, even telling me to put one in to sell the place.
