Not sure of the proper name of these but thought I would post a suggestion for those in hot dry areas, water restrictions, lazy gardeners etc - if you want a bright colourful ground cover that is very easy to grow and very drought hardy, try Pig Faces.
They are a sort of succulent and come in many bright colours such as yellow, hot pink, orange, purple. Very easy to propogate from cuttings too.
Here is one in my garden - it is starting to flower already in mid August - by spring and summer will be covered in prolific bright flowers, mass of colour such that you can hardly see the leaves underneath.
