All dogs have to be kept on lead in public areas except at designated 'off leash' areas, and even then they have to be under effective control at all times, and poo picked up. Although you don't want to, your only option is to dob them into the council. If it's something they do quite regularly, it wouldn't be hard for them to be caught out, and the neighbours wouldn't neccessarily know it was you that dobbed them in (you can tell the Council people to be discreet about it). I own 2 dogs, and foster dogs for rescue groups as well....and there is just no excuse for their behaviour. It's just unacceptable.. How Do I Rid Of Dog Poo From Front Lawn & Nature Strip Part 42Jul 11, 2010 3:44 pm Hello all, It was getting better last year but this year it is getting more and more frequent my neighbour's dog came to poo at my front garden again. For instance, last week, both me and my husband picked up dog poos nearly everyday from our front garden. Our kids play badminton there and definitely we don't want them to step and dog poo. It was getting very irritating for us. Another neighbour suggested that we put up a big sign " No Dog Poo Allowed". We did tell the culprit to keep an eye on their dog but apparently they are too busy this year that they totally forgot re this. We are setting up security camera in front and will send the info to local council. 2 years is enough, don't you think? I need a stress ball! Re: Re : How Do I Rid Of Dog Poo From Front Lawn & Nature St 43Jul 11, 2010 4:47 pm I feel your pain serenityhome! We have a very persistent pooch that just loves to poop next to our letter box - which I then subsequently (always) stepping in One day I will learn to look where I walk As for the dog we don't actually know who's dog it is - we know which dog it is, just not where he lives. The only real solution (IMO) is a fence. Re: Re : How Do I Rid Of Dog Poo From Front Lawn & Nature St 44Jul 11, 2010 5:00 pm Can you suggest they let the dogs out into their backyard instead of out on the street unsupervised?? How Do I Rid Of Dog Poo From Front Lawn & Nature Strip! 45Jul 12, 2010 11:46 am Hello IkonInteriors, We did think of a fence...but the neighbour's dog will still poo at our nature strip, when we get out of the car...we nearly step on the poo...many times already! Hello Dilla, They did let the dog go free in their backyard (not much land) but guess what, they would let their dog poo in front when they come home Because they don't need to pick up the poo(they think) if the poo is not in their backyard! Oh thanks for feeling my pain.....have a great week! Re: Re : How Do I Rid Of Dog Poo From Front Lawn & Nature St 46Jul 31, 2010 11:38 pm SH I feel for you lots of suggestions here that obviously are not working for you but have you looked into sprays that deter the dog from using the garden/nature strip in the first place have a look at this site from multicrop as it may be of use in your situation http://www.multicrop.com.au/KeepOff_Lawns.htm I went outside once. The graphics were alright, but the gameplay sucked! Settlement:22nd June Slab:27th August Frame:16th Sept Bricked:21st Oct Roof:24th Nov Linings HANDOVER23rd March! How Do I Rid Of Dog Poo From Front Lawn & Nature Strip! 47Aug 15, 2010 3:42 am Dear Mecha-wombat, How are you? Thanks for the suggestion. We actually tried this before. Have to reapply after rain so a bit of hassle for us. We don't feel like going for a walk outside anymore, it is always dogs poo in our front garden, their front garden otherwise is immaculate.... i don't understand why they let their dog poo at their nature strip and other people's garden and even the reserve nearby? We are trying to practise patience/tolerance but find it really get to us esp have to clean up after their dog nearly every day. Thank you, have a great week ahead! SH Re: Re : How Do I Rid Of Dog Poo From Front Lawn & Nature St 48Aug 15, 2010 4:39 am Well that really sucks There is a granulated product in the US called Ro-pel Now I do not know it it can be brought in to australia but is really effective deterring dogs and cats form eliminating in that area Dogs hate the smell of Citronella!! Bark collars use citronella as the deterrent make a spray with citronella oil?? yes you need to reapply it Or possibly soak a cotton rope, timber, pour it on some mulch?? and lay it around the area?? I really think your neighbour really is very inconsiderate! Time to contact to your council about the by-laws they have regarding dog ownership it is an offence to an unrestrained dog in public areas and not picking up after their DOG is an LITTERING offence now if they get home at the same time everyday and the dog is let loose round the same time TIP OFF the council you should not have to put up with this #### both literally and figurative I went outside once. Re: Re : How Do I Rid Of Dog Poo From Front Lawn & Nature St 50Aug 15, 2010 5:50 pm Look, anything that is oily is going to provide a deterrent. It may only be temporary and I would not be wanting to constantly handle citronella. Just look at how it made WWI soldiers feel! This might seem radical but would solve the issue. There is a plant called Hemiandra. Fantastic ground cover, can be mowed, has a nice dark green colour. Is very waterwise and would need no irrigation in summer when established. Kill the existing lawn and possibly the offending owner, leave the dead material there as good organic compost. Plant Hemiandra instead. Your water bill drops, you get a reliable dark green lawn look, and you won't be feeding and mowing the darn thing. Hemiandra is extremely spikey! You'll wake up to see 12 cats impaled in it and the offending dog stuck as well in the assumed position! Well that might not be quite true but they will sniff it once and get an owwie on the nose or feet! Good bye problem and save money Re: Re : How Do I Rid Of Dog Poo From Front Lawn & Nature St 51Aug 15, 2010 9:32 pm HAHAHAHA impaled animals the neighbourhood VLAD the Pet Impaler With the citronella you would only need to use it till the dogs habit had changed The Dog has now got into the habit of crapping on this lawn as soon as you break the habit you should be able to cease use of the citronella I went outside once. Re: Re : How Do I Rid Of Dog Poo From Front Lawn & Nature St 53Aug 15, 2010 11:08 pm 2 years - more patience than I would have! these neighbours of yours are taking the ***. grab a few turds with a plastic bag and smear it on their front door, if that doesn't send the message home I'll walk east. Re: Re : How Do I Rid Of Dog Poo From Front Lawn & Nature St 55Aug 17, 2010 11:23 am Or work with the problem and there is this poo treatment http://www.gardenersdirect.com.au/comme ... nt_id=2135 (I've been digging around and finding some of their cool stuff ) Re: Re : How Do I Rid Of Dog Poo From Front Lawn & Nature St 56Aug 17, 2010 11:31 am Easy treatment. Please refer to the legislation below and apply as appropriate: http://www.premier.vic.gov.au/newsroom/10298.html Quote: "changes to the Domestic Animals Act 1994 submitted to State Parliament. Others changes include: Tougher penalties for the owners of any dog which is found wandering the streets; New powers for the Magistrates’ Court to order an owner guilty of an offence under the Act to attend a responsible dog ownership training course or for the owner to take their dog to an approved obedience training course; and Broadening the criteria for the declaration of a “menacing” and “dangerous dog”. A dog that causes a non-serious bite injury can be declared a “menacing dog” and a dog that has been the subject of a second or subsequent attack or rushing offence can be declared a ”dangerous dog”, meaning their owners will have to meet strict conditions. " The last one is very powerful - All an uncontrolled dog is need to act in a menacing manner and you can have it picked up and placed onto the government register. The owners will face court and fines. The definition of menacing is quite broad too. Its a very very powerful tool to control behaviours. Re: Re : How Do I Rid Of Dog Poo From Front Lawn & Nature St 57Aug 17, 2010 11:35 am Now we are getting somewhere Re: Re : How Do I Rid Of Dog Poo From Front Lawn & Nature St 58Aug 18, 2010 12:12 am A friend told me recently that she used a mixtures of peppers - including cayenne - and sprinked it all over the ground where the dog was doing the doo. She said the dog sniffs the regular spot, sneezes and won't use that area again. Might be worth spending a few $ on a big pepper blitz... Do the hard jobs first. Maybe need a fence later on ..... Have a great week everyone!
