- * Any garden, paving or turfing should not sit above the slab. Is this correct?
* While not ideal, is it a bad idea to put turf right up against the slab? Should I be looking for other landscaping ideas to avoid this or is it ok to do?
* If there are existing patches of grass (and weeds) growing, would a simple pass with the rotary hoe and a layer of topsoil be sufficient for new turf? I understand I'll probably need to throw something else down (such as dynamic lifter), but is that enough in the way of "preparation"?
* Should I compact the topsoil with a roller, or put the turf on first and then roll it? I've seen the mention of a plate compactor but given the difference in rental cost, the roller would be the preferred option.
* Will water still filter through compacted road base, or flow over the top of it? Thinking about drainage options for the side areas of the house where I'm planning a combination of paving and pebbles.
Probably enough for now, but I'm sure more will come to me over the next few weeks!
