My country estate borders a wetland. Despite the efforts of the locals, it's remarkably pristine. But all that rich, vacant ground drives me mad with desire as in my wild imaginings I see hanging gardens (created by me), wood nymphs reclining by roman baths (built by me) but ... being the good little (armchair) greenie that I am I know that a reserve is off limits.
That was 5 years ago and I've weakened.
You see, I've got a thing about avocados. Partly because they are so easy to grow (whether they fruit is another matter). They are a nice looking tree! They even look a bit native! I mean, it's not as if they are a showy Jacaranda or something. So ... one or two (or 10) hidden away in the reserve wouldn't seem to be too much against the natural order of things, I told myself.
So I've planted about 5 avocado seeds. They may or may not grow into the fruit laden quivering monsters I expect them to be but like all people who do the wrong thing I've tried to justify it and this is how. I've planted the seeds next to blackberries and my rationale is that they'll grow and destroy the evil bramble which otherwise wouldn't have occurred (everything going to plan). Sort of ... replacing one evil with another, less threatening, evil.
But in the middle of the night I awake in a cold sweat. Sodden with guilt. In the shadows of my room I see the stentorian face of Bob Bown glaring at me from the gloom! Remorseless in its condemnation!
You think I sinned? Greatly?

No Heleyn. It's a common name - Neri. I joined this site in 2008 but being of shy, retiring disposition, I simply didn't have the confidence to make a splash in the Home One pond. But I've lodged two threads and both have been wildy successful. So I'm all 'rarin to go with more! But ... but only 'bout slugs and worms and fings. Nuffing controversial-like!

My apologies if there is no connection between yourself and previous poster and it is coincidence you have the same name
Are you going to post anything about houses, have you bought or are you building a house?

That's ok helyn. Apologies accepted.
You're in the garden section, not houses. So slugs 'n bugs is what it's all about.
But since you've expressed great interest I will lob a thread about house buying. I do hope you read it and find it interesting.

I'm not sure about the environmental ethics of your avocado planting, but thanks for the laugh. I think you're really funny, but I have a bad sense of humour... so...
I think you should keep posting, it's a nice diversion for me from stressing about this colour/style/version of something vs. the other very similar one. Going now to look up 'stentorian' buzz
PS. You're not the only one who dreams of Bob Brown....oops, now I've said too muchShame he's not on my team

Why thank you there, Buzz. I like variety. Hate mail/love mail that sort of thing (assuming you're being genuine). You see Buzz (you don't mind me calling you by your first name do you?) people are extraordinarily serious little critters. Not quite sure why when the compost bin awaits us all. Humour (and I try) lightens the load!
[ I hope he fell for that and doesn't see that really I'm an attention-seeking exhibitionist! Quite embarrassing really! But there you go! We must suffer all types in this world ]
