I would ask for ag drain instead. they are much more efficient in what they do. Also don't get the bloody things connected direct to the gutter. Have a grate the water flows into instead. This prevents your eves from flooding when the soakwell backs up in heavy rain, and it will. Sometimes water and sand is forced up through paving as well. Try have them linked to each other where possible, not all your down pipes flow the same amount of water. They need to go a minimum 300mm deep and I strongly suggest you check the job where possible. I have seen too many rip off jobs with the soakwells or ag drain buried just under the sand by fellas that disappear after its done. Re: cost of soakwells 23Jul 24, 2009 9:18 am ladsos our home wont be approved by council unless with have soak wells! Does you council carry out inspections? Don't know what building stage you are at, but has the council fronted up for any of the required inspections todate? If they haven't then don't rush in to install soak wells. If they decide to do a final then wait for them to tell you. Don't rush in for something you don't really need. There's one in Henderson. Bunnings stock it as well. As for people who install it, well you'll need to hit the yellow pages but first check the Homeone home page Re: cost of soakwells 26Nov 13, 2009 12:05 am Digging up an old thread, but... What do you do if you have limestone 600mm or less below your surface and you have a cottage block? Were trying to get soakwells in, jackhammer and shovels out the back (600x600 x 4) and excavator out the front(1200x1200) Its not enough soil to adequately cover soakwells and the water just sits in the soil anyway so im guessing an ag drain wont work. Any other ideas before the fun weekend starts? 7 12054 We were lucky in that our old house was so small (86 square metres) compared to the new house, they were able to take enough readings around the old backyard house before… 8 37262 Fair Trading can issue orders to rectify and complete but once the matter goes to NCAT these orders are automatically vacated.
