Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Jun 20, 2009 8:16 pm Hi all, i am a VERY long way from having a garden (dont even have a slab yet! ) but already my partner and I are discussing the backyard. it will be small and L shaped across the back and one side of the house. There is 5m from the house to the fence. The house is north facing and we are in the west so the side of the house will get the afternoon sun. We dont get an alfresco included so i guess we are thinking a little bit of patio and a little bit of grass/ garden. The big difference in opinion is the sunken patio...... i think it will make the space look smaller. My partner thinks it only needs to be a couple of steps and it can create a nicer outdoor area with raised garden beds around. Just wondering if anyone has tried it or if there is consideration i havent thought of, thanks guys! shan Re: sunken courtyard/ patio area.... anyone tried it!? 2Jun 20, 2009 8:24 pm shan, are you in Melbourne? If you are, one of the M3tricon displays out at Mernda has done something similar to this and it looks great. Might be worth the drive out there to have a look if you're in Melbourne. I think it's the Jasper. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself.
