Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Jun 05, 2009 3:07 pm I just recently built this garden in Annandale in Sydney and wanted to share the photos. It is a very 'young' garden and needs some time to grow and fill out. I am going to espalier the camelias along the fenceline to create a green wall effect, and in time the blue bamboo will fill the brick wall space nicely and arch across the gate to conceal it a bit. The buxus, azaleas and pieris i intend to ball into 'clouds' of varying sizes. The groundcovers will create a green carpet along the foreground of the garden over time and add more depth to what is a rather small garden. My favourite plant is the buddhist pine (podocarpis) in the foreground of the photo which i have trained into a large bonsai. Enjoy!IMG_2193.JPGIMG_2180.JPGIMG_2183.JPG Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: New Japanese style garden Sydney photos 2Jun 05, 2009 6:28 pm Hey Peaceful Landscapes Looks great!! Good job. Re: New Japanese style garden Sydney photos 3Jun 05, 2009 6:29 pm Cloud topiary. If you need any tips, I know one of Australia's best Topiary artists. I am trying to get him to join here to help share his knowledge and teach everyone some incredibly easy techniques for getting plants to grow how you want them too I have a few cloud topiary ficus in pots. A work in progress That Japanese garden is great and for it to look so good at such a young age is a credit to you. I can appreciate what you are envisaging that will become in the future We would be pushing poo up a hill to get a garden like that to grow effectively here I believe that Chinese and Japanese landscaping knowledge is about 1000 years ahead of what is mainstream in Australia. I mean that in the literal sense too. (1000 years) They have such an understanding of the mountains and trees as well as rivers. Just every aspect of the environment and how it comes together in understanding, then replicating that in a garden. On another note there was a thread about dry creek beds and I posted one of yours. Any chance on adding to that in the thread? (how it was made) Re: New Japanese style garden Sydney photos 4Jun 06, 2009 8:13 am Beautiful. From the bricks we have chosen, to the tiling in the bathroom. The whole house is Japenese garden theme. So I will be very interested to see how your garden grows. I really want to know what the types of rocks are that they use in Japenese gardens, and where in Adelaide I might get some.
