We are to have a landscaper out to do our front garden at sometime, and want to know what the best grass would be for our area, and how to prepare the sand. It has lots of rocks/debris in it at the top, but go down around 10cm and its rock hard. We are in Byford so very clayey/limestoney. The guy using the machine to dig the trenches for the retic next door, ended up throwing a tanty because of the rocks .
Next door said they had to get yellow sand, for a thin layer to go over whats already there, for the grass to go onto. I dont think the land-scapers used anything else, soil improvers/wetters/fertilizers... Is this normal for this area?
I have a brown thumb and want to give the grass every possible help it can get, I would like it nice and green, not dead and patchy like our last house!
