Do you have irrigation down yet? How many square metres? http://lovegroveturf.com/instant-turf-supply.htm Re: Recommendation for turf installer - Perth (NOR)? 3May 27, 2009 11:36 pm Okay - looks like I need to do some research on turf type! We're coastal (Scarboro). In terms of sqm - in the backyard there would be about 100sqm (estimate) and about 20sqm in the front. Realistically - we are about a month away in terms of being ready for turf. We have done pre-lays for retic down the sides of the house where the paving is going, but won't complete the retic until after our retaining wall and paving has gone in - about 3 weeks all up I reckon. Re: Recommendation for turf installer - Perth (NOR)? 4May 28, 2009 12:05 am Allocate for a few cubes of certified organic soil to go down before the turf. I'd suggest it is mixed with the existing sand to a good depth of around 300mm plus. That in itself is going to absolutely ensure serious savings on water, disease control, maintenance, and nutrient use. Soils from bulk soil mobs won't cut it in comparison unless they sell "certified" organic soils. This will contradict what others will likely do which is no soil prep and a good lashing of dynamic lifter. This in effect will give a quick boost in the lawns appearance but after 8 months you'll wish it wasn't done as your fertiliser bills go through the roof and problems start. It is too alkaline for our soils here and won't offer the roots anything to grow into that is any good. For the pop ups you will most likely use, could I suggest the use of "MP rotators" instead. They do cost a little more but are much more waterwise. Much less water is lost to the air. They have rotating "fingers" of water instead of spray. They fit onto any popup sprinkler body you buy from the retic shop. They have less repair costs too. So they pay for themselves in very little time Re: Recommendation for turf installer - Perth (NOR)? 5May 31, 2009 2:13 am My partner has used sheep manure with awesome success. We were accused of not mowing the lawn for a client but it literally grew shaggy within a couple of days. We couldn't keep up! The effect lasted quite a while too. Re: Recommendation for turf installer - Perth (NOR)? 6Jun 15, 2009 6:51 pm I could also suggest a great way to feed a lawn instead of using a fertiliser as such is too make a tea from sheep and cow poo. Get a cheap hessian bag and fill it with the poo Then soak it in a tall bucket and make the tea -eeewww Then drink it - No don't do that! Then add it to a watering can and apply it to your lawn, it will love you for it ...just another idea Re: Recommendation for turf installer - Perth (NOR)? 9Jun 19, 2009 9:52 pm do you do the whole tim tam coffee slurpee thing with it too???? ewwwwwwwwwwwwww hehheehe Re: Recommendation for turf installer - Perth (NOR)? 10Jun 20, 2009 12:20 am That's Not a Tim Tam!!!!!! OMG!!!! They using concrete or timber sleepers? Timber or steel uprights? Any drainage behind sleeper? 3 5900 If you need to pay for a project manager you would be well advised to just engage a builder who would take full responsibility for the build.
