In brief we are on solid rock! We have jack hammered away the rock to try and make it more level. And we have now put soil over the rock and used grass seeds, as it was cheaper.....HOWEVER, the problem is, we have had to put the soil back up about 4 times now, because we have had heavy rain and the grass hasn't quite grown.
That's the brief of it, the complication is that we have a rock retaining wall at the back, which causes lovely water falls, and so this obviously makes the soil run down, as it forms little furrows.
As a result of the excess water we get from the neighbour, we put drains near either side of the house, for the excess water to drain away. So, we need to try and probably slope the soil towards the drains, however, I am not sure if it might be a better idea to slop the soil that has washed down and then put new soil in the furrows that has been made and instead of seed, perhaps put grass over the problem spots????? AND I would have no clue as to where to start sloping and actually how to do it!
I am totally lost for ideas! We have had to put bricks over the drains, as they keep getting clogged with all the mud, just to try and keep as much sand as possible from going down the drain.
Would it make more sense if I uploaded some photos? I don't know the deal with photos, so let me know what the size limit etc is and I will upload photos for you to see.
Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. It has been a very had slog and we just seem to be fighting a lost cause at the moment.
So clearly any suggestions are welcome!!!
