Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 May 13, 2009 12:10 am I have my ideas for this space but If this was your place and were going to landscape this area what would you do The area is courtyard size 13metres in length and approx 3.600 in width The decking is started, i didnt want to extend the deck as it would have encroached on valuable space, and theres not alot of that In one of the pics you will notice posts for future double gates. oh that areas on the west side of the house. So gets hot in summer. Consider what you would use the area for - relaxation - deck, garden, space for kids to play etc, and work from there, choosing a style that will match your lifestyle and personality - formal, with hedges and strong structural lines; modern, pared down with strong use of both hard and soft elements; native, productive fruit and veg... Whichever you choose, you will probably want to screen off the neighbours a bit. You could consider small deciduous trees to offer shade and cooling un summer and let in light and warmth in winter. Not being very specific, but the final use of the area will dictate what happens next Will it be active - noisy and boisterous kid playing ? or fairly passive - sitting relaxing with a few coldies and mates around ? Have fun with it, whatever you do Re: landscaping ideas needed 3May 15, 2009 12:42 am I so knew you'd have a go at this one Clath, sorry for not posting but I really had no good ideas . I hope this thread evolves a bit It will be good to see a bunch of ideas. Come on imaginations Lacebark, you are such a mum I would be thinking (in a bogan voice), "Is your driveway gonna be used for burnouts? Cause if it is you are gonna need a hard and smooth surface rather than exposed ag which would produce good smoke but no good on tyres But lacebark picks out you may have kids who like to play in that space and you should think about going with that Lacebark is great on design Always the logical thinker, I can tell when she thinks because she goes all quiet and you can hear a feint sound of mechanical gears turning in there Re: landscaping ideas needed 4May 15, 2009 10:33 am Oh stoppit Fu... I was going to go down the line of a Monster Truck circuit in miniature, or to actual scale if the neighbours weren't so salubrious, but I just had to be soooo sensible, didn't I? Re: landscaping ideas needed 5May 15, 2009 6:35 pm Without knowing what YOUR lifestyle is like, Clath, I can only tell you what I'D do.... which is what you asked, after all. I'd screen off the area at the front, near the HWS and turn it into a utility area. Between the gates and the screen I'd have bins, maybe a small storage shed, perhaps a clothesline(?). Don't know where your laundry is, of course. If you already have a utility area somewhere else, then I'd still screen off the HWS - maybe with some hedge-type plants and/or a simple screen of decking timbers. The deck, I'd probably turn into a nice serene area to sit with a book and a cuppa (or a wine ). I'd plant some screening shrubs or small trees along the fence and also some plants that are pretty to look at. Maybe something that has a beautiful scent. Some plantings near the house, a path of some kind leading to the front yard....maybe a feature pot or a piece of garden art or something as a focal point somewhere. If it's near the kitchen, some pots of herbs or veggies would be good. I assume the roofed al fresco area at the back is to be used for barbecues and entertaining? Of course, all this depends on which family members are going to use the area, which rooms it opens from and so on. And what you need to fit into your yard. Do you have a floorplan? Have fun with it, whatever you do Thanks everyone you all have good ideas ,as for Fu tisk tisk cant believe you couldnt think of anything Lol Lace bark i was thinking what small truck, the girls going mad, now i get you yes dont know how that toy came to be on my property, been there since i moved in. For the area i was thinking of relaxation .deck with a water feature. and putting in one of those netted trampolines for my son, Veggie garden , As for screening fruit trees (apples nectarines) saw better homes and gardens to night they had a feature on dwarf fruit trees. Abit of lawn, with i hope merabu steppers if i have any left over from the gates and deck. ... all in that small area wonder if it all will fit. might have to move the fence back lol. Kek yes thats a under cover alfresco for barbies, the clothes line is at the back of the house and yes i had similar ideas too. The front near the hws is going to be double screen gates .thats if my ex ever gets around to putting them in Yep the kitchen /family areas are facing that area Hmmm, I have checked your past posts and it seems that you are in NSW, not WA as I had thought. It pays to show your State in your avatar. Retaining wall regulations… 5 5598 Hi, you've probably already resolved this, however, Commbank will probably pay the funds to you after you send evidence the work is done regardless the change in the quotes. 1 31778 Ideally you would engage a landscaper to give you some insight what they may need in the space to make your vision come to life… 1 10318 |
