Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Apr 29, 2009 10:39 am Hi all, We have pretty much decided to go with Riverstone pavers. We saw them at the Homeshow, they are larger than normal (495x495) and come in some really pretty colours, with a tiny hint of sparkle in them (I love my sparkles ) I have narrowed it down to 4 colours of which I have small samples. From left to right in all these pics it goes 1. Ash 2. Graphite 3. Driftwood 4. Dusk The paving will go all over our alfresco as well as a path up the side to the back yard, and around the corner to the back sliding door and eventually to a washing line. Our bricks are Austral Canterbury so a reddish colour. Back of garage and windows/doors all around alfresco are Paperbark. Side and back fences are Woodland Grey. So, which colour should I choose? Re: Which colour paver should I choose? 2Apr 29, 2009 10:50 am I voted for Dusk because it looked more charcoal than the others, but when I saw the other photos from above, Dusk looks a bit bluer so now I am leaning more towards Graphite. It's out of those two for me Re: Which colour paver should I choose? 3Apr 29, 2009 10:55 am thanks SuH in real life, Dusk is more browny than anything else, compared to the others, so I am not sure that the photos are doing them justice But, Dusk is the one DH prefers ... I am probably leaning towards Dusk or Graphite myself too! I might try to get some more pics today, the sun is out a bit better so the colours might be a bit truer... Re: Which colour paver should I choose? 7Apr 29, 2009 11:00 am This is impossible they all look so great!! I personally like the Driftwood as my number one, its just warmer than the others in the photo. Do you have tiles or floorboards inside leading to the alfresco (sorry don't remember)? I like Dusk too, but they are honestly all so nice, I think its more personal choice as opposed to what would work or not as they would all look great! I shouldn't have commented... talk about fence sitting! edit: my spelling is atrocious! ICK So glad the building is over, never again. Loooove our house, but still not quite sure it was worth all of the stress they put us through! I agree they all look nice, that's what makes it such a hard decision. The flooring all around inside is all floorboards (except the laundry which is dark brown tiles). There will be a step down from the inside to the outside though so it won't butt up completely against them... thanks Mich! Re: Which colour paver should I choose? 11Apr 29, 2009 11:36 am I choose Driftwood mainly because it match better with the garage door color Blog - http://clageonewhouse.blogspot.com/ Building Thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=10886&hilit=milan I am in, with my husband and my beautiful bunny Re: Which colour paver should I choose? 12Apr 29, 2009 11:55 am I voted Dusk - but agree they are all gorgeous It was between dusk and graphite for me too - but I have heard when things are layed in a large area they tend to look lighter (no idea if this is true) so went for the darker of the two My karma ran over your dogma Re: Which colour paver should I choose? 13Apr 29, 2009 12:04 pm Yep, I like Dusk & Graphite, too..... But, I looked at these recently, and I remember immediately loving the Graphite, and just thinking about your place (visualising in my mind...which I can only do b/c I've actually seen it ) I would say Graphite for me! Solidarity, not solidity.......The Lexicon of Life Re: Which colour paver should I choose? 15Apr 29, 2009 12:47 pm driftwood or dusk. ultimately it is going to look great anyway. It's not like people are going to be driving past and saying to themselves, "Oh that looks awful, they so should have used a different shade for that paving" Re: Which colour paver should I choose? 16Apr 29, 2009 3:12 pm At least you know to cross Ash off the list! But like everyone else said, they all look pretty good so whichever way you go, it'll still be nice! Can I ask how much they cost? Idiots are fun, that's why there is one in every village! - Dr. House - Re: Which colour paver should I choose? 18Apr 29, 2009 3:23 pm Driftwood for one very simple reason. It is the lightest. You have a dark Woodland Grey fence and a dark brick and the courtyard is enclosed on three sides by the house and the fence and faces north. If you have a dark paver it will be like an oven in summer. Go as light as possible. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Re: Which colour paver should I choose? 20Apr 29, 2009 4:19 pm gosh this is a hard decision!!! lisanne At least you know to cross Ash off the list! Yep this is what I thought as soon as I got the samples!!! It just looks like normal concrete! (Like my driveway ) Weird cause Ash was the one that first caught my eye in the brochure... Peaceful Landscapes DUSK! Have you used these before PL? You seem quite convinced in your opinion ... petal Yep, I like Dusk & Graphite, too..... But, I looked at these recently, and I remember immediately loving the Graphite, and just thinking about your place (visualising in my mind...which I can only do b/c I've actually seen it ) I would say Graphite for me! petal knowing you have seen them before definitely makes me value your opinion more (not that I don't value everyone else's!! ) were you looking at them for around your pool? which colour were you going to go with for your place? joles Driftwood for one very simple reason. It is the lightest. You have a dark Woodland Grey fence and a dark brick and the courtyard is enclosed on three sides by the house and the fence and faces north. If you have a dark paver it will be like an oven in summer. Go as light as possible. Yep I see what you are saying Jo ... but as bel said things do tend to look lighter when laid out in a big surface (except my carpet which looked darker ) ... these colours are definitely not dark by any means ... I would call them mid-range colours! Even the driftwood isn't really as light as it looks here! I really do agree with everyone who has chosen the driftwood ... I love the light colour, and it is what I originally had visualised for our alfresco ... I am jsut worried about two things 1. the glare from a light(-er) colour and 2. marks and staining. Both reasons exacerbated by the fact that we won't have a roof on there for the time being. I *think* I am leaning towards the Dusk this afternoon. wonderland Can I ask how much they cost? They are $58 per square metre, and we have a cashback offer from the homeshow where we get $6 per sqm cashback after we purchase.
