Not as excited as as this time next year when they have got some growth on them Not as excited as when they start flowering really well. Not as excited as when you see the first big milky white buds come out on the plant and release that amazing fresh smell through the garden and not as excited as when you see that I have finished crapping on Re: Im going Magnolia shopping today! 3Apr 26, 2009 9:14 am Fu you forgot take the opportunity to plug your favourite ones again. I am just jealous of ANY established lawn at the moment. Even patchy ones!!! at least it's a bit green "Your emotions are the slaves to your thoughts, and you are the slave to your emotions." — Elizabeth Gilbert Living in our new house. Re: Im going Magnolia shopping today! 9Apr 27, 2009 8:15 am this is our rental, the patio is full of crap, the aggregate is rougher than nails and the lawn is some horrible grass that grows 14cm a day.... its patchy Fu because Ive been cutting it lower and lower to try and get an area thats nice for DD to run around on, oh and there are grubs which explains the patchyness in other area's did i mention this grass is FULL of terrible green ants? its not all bad, just wish it was mine and i could fix it Blog - http://snakedr.blogspot.com/ Build Thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=12084&p=307406#p307406 Status - PCI 15/10. Our house is facing South. How big do they grow and would that be a good choice? And some tips on looking after them, I just love them. Im going Magnolia shopping today! 11May 05, 2011 3:59 pm I'd choose Teddy Bear now days over Little Gem. Im going Magnolia shopping today! 12May 05, 2011 4:04 pm 3-5m Lots of certified organic compost. Spongolite or perlite. Shallow wide area of soil prep, not deep holes full of rich soils. Thick layer of tree lopper mulch. Molasses in water, every few weeks and then after a few months do it less frequently. I have deliberately not recommended adding fertilizers, manures or blood and bone because they are not needed and I dont feel comfortable with you guys using them. Re: Im going Magnolia shopping today! 14May 05, 2011 6:17 pm I love magnolias. I have several varieties creamy grandifloria, stellata, port wine. They are different sizes and have a show all year round with the leaves, then the buds, flowering prolifically for lond periods. Well chosen Re: Im going Magnolia shopping today! 16May 05, 2011 9:03 pm kiwichick I love magnolias. I have several varieties creamy grandifloria, stellata, port wine. Well chosen Magnolias are my favourite trees too I have a very old Grandiflora, the huge lemon scented flowers are amazing it's a shame they don't make good house flowers. We also have lots of little gems and a couple of others, plan on getting some of the other varieties as well Im going Magnolia shopping today! 17May 07, 2011 12:18 am Well bugger me. Turns out Michelias are now classified as a Magnolia. They have been reclassified by Botinists in lab coats. Like the WA Dryandras now classified as Banksias but with most west Aussie native enthusiasts saying no to the change. Re: Im going Magnolia shopping today! 18May 10, 2011 9:44 am I've just planted a Magnolia Grandiflora "Teddy Bear" it's only tiny at the moment, but it was only barely in the budget at the price I found it. I love it's gorgeous furry copper coloured underside of the leaves. Can't wait to see it start flowering.
