Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Apr 19, 2009 11:08 pm Need help yet again on making yet anothr decision. We just finished building our side fence which comes into line with the front of the house on both sides. We have decided in time we will close in our garage and make into another room, which means we will move the current driveaway to infront of the new gates on the new fence, which will lead into our carport in front of our large shed which will be behind the gate. What we need is some plants in front of the two panels of the fence as it looks so boring at the moment. The other side of the front garden is started with a murraya hedge along the front at the footpath and the side fence and alot of spider lillies in front of our large windows. and green green grass .... once established we may decide to add more plants behind the hedge. So do I keep it similar to the other side of the current driveway? with murraya's or should I do something like what i am doing out back which is more tropical?eg. crotons, need opinions and possible plant options.... I have attached a pic of the fence - the red area is where I think i should start with planting , and I have drawn in the future driveway with grey. Thanks for any help. They will blend into the tropical garden very well in time to come. Then just under plant it with what ever you fancy in the way of the incredible tropical plants. Vibernum Tinus is another good option. Re: planting in front of new fence 3Apr 19, 2009 11:59 pm Vibernum Tinus looks similar to murraya but obviously is different. Might try that then and in time once they grow up and the driveway gets laid (will take awhile) and fence ajoining us with the neightbours which is about to fall over, is replaced. Once all that happens I could put other plants in front of the hedge and along the fence. Fu Manchu you always have the right answer to solve my mini garden dramas. Which is very helpful for a first time gardener. Thanks Heaps. Re: planting in front of new fence 4Apr 20, 2009 12:07 am Mate, the plants I recomend I know are going to do well. There are thousands of others I could let you know about but that won't solve your dilemma I have suggested something I am pretty sure your going to go down to your local gardencentre and grab Not something you are going to have trouble finding or have to order and get stuffed around When I post plant and tree ideas that is how I base my answers Glad to have been of service Old Home Restoration / Renovation Try your local council.
