Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Apr 09, 2009 9:52 pm Today we had 40 sqm of turf arrive, and I sprinkled 200kg of sand over it (as you do!) and watered the bejeebus out of it. After a couple of good waters today, the sand has just about disappeared through the turf, with just a few mounds I can see here and there. Should I put some more sand on top tomorrow? Or will it be ok as is? Would it hurt it or help it to put more? Also, I found I have an extra 2.5kg bag of Lawn Starter (I sprinkled one 2.5kg bag on before the sand). Should I bother putting this extra bag on now? Thanks FUUUU and anyone else who can help!! Re: Quick turf question(s) 2Apr 09, 2009 10:07 pm Oh and I probably should mention the turf type, it's Palmetto (a Buffalo variety). Hopefully Fu will still answer me even though it's not Empire Zoysia "Your emotions are the slaves to your thoughts, and you are the slave to your emotions." — Elizabeth Gilbert Living in our new house. We get ours nice and thick mostly with plenty of root You'll have to move to WA 31 the other day, 33 yesterday almost, and today 32ish and 33 tomorrow all with a light cooling breeze in the arvo Seaol seasol and seasol water water water Seasol once a week and then after a month, a very light application of fertiliser. munns golf course green or buffalo booster (don't mean squat if you have buffalo or not) is more toward the organic side of fertilisers. Some molasses from a stock feed mob or ag supplier. see thread on how to use Re: Quick turf question(s) 4Apr 09, 2009 10:21 pm I'll consider myself paddled!!!! thank you Fu! I have no idea what the root structure is like not having seen much turf before, it looks pretty thick to me *shrug* but I didn't see the bottom of it; DH rolled it out for me before he went to work this morning. Sooo, seasol either diluted or full strength is fine gathering from your other posts on the subject... I will get some organic soil or more sand tomorrow ... and molasses (yes I remember that thread) ... and keep on watering!!! how about that Lawn Starter? Would that help? The ppl at soilworx told me it should go on the soil BEFORE the turf went down, but they onyl told me that AFTER we'd rolled it out so we just put it on top instead... now I have this extra bag... Re: Quick turf question(s) 5Apr 09, 2009 11:00 pm It'll help the company you bought it from more than it will help you Don't use the seasol full strength, you'll just waste your money and waste a great product. Buy a 1ltr or a cask of it. Get the hose on stuff too. Then when the hose on stuff is finished, you can refill it with the concentrate from the 1ltr or cask 1.
